I could be miss remembering this. But I think I was stuck on sunset for ages untill I realised I wasn't only limted to picking pokemon from my team. If I remember correctly you could also chose pokemon from the opponents random selection.

probably has been said already but you could trade with older version in RSE also the older game are totaly compatible with gameboy advance, the catridge sticks out but they work when you play them on it...

I don't see anything wrong with taking items and what not, much better than grinding at casinos or in Gale of darkness. I personally love checking out old saves, I like to think I'm doing N's work and I typically will transfer over and give the abandoned Pokemon homes. If I'm being lazy I at least take any named Pokemon since I'm assuming they were loved. I think it's a nice way to honor their hard work. Keep up the good work, I just started emerald too! I'm shiny hunting Rayquaza right now !

some 300 pokemons are RIDICULOUS challenge but fans wanted 1006 pokemon pokedex? uh huh.

17yrs ago, me and a friend of mine obtained almost all of them by multiple saves, with two gameboys. I believed we completed Ruby (originally mine), Emerald(borrowed) and Fire Red(his) 3-4 times each. We got some exclusives from trading with Sapphire/Leaf Green.

I’m a little late to the party on this video, but I would like to share a tip for people who want to do this hunt themselves without risk of failing since you can actually account for every single dangerous thing Mew is capable of. Obviously the easiest, but most boring method would be to use a Master Ball. But if you’re like a lot of people and want it in something more unique, I’ve got a better strategy. I hunted this a little over a year ago and came at it with a Smeargle using the following setup: Spore to put it to sleep, Metronome and Imprison to make sure it can’t use Metronome to explode or flee, and Trick while holding Leftovers since it will Transform into the Smeargle and start to Struggle. Because of how Struggle works in Gen III, the Leftovers outpace the damage it does to itself. You could probably swap out Spore for something else, like possibly Transform (if you want to prevent it from transforming into Smeargle so you can keep seeing Mew), but the sleep does help the catch rate. Other than that, just make sure to bring plenty of balls. I ended up being way over prepared and catching it in one ball since its catch rate isn’t that low, but always better safe than sorry. Hope this helps someone!

Ironically, Emerald was the only Pokedex I completed in the whole series (I had a break between Diamond and Violet though, so I don't know how much that counts). Should be noted that I had a Sapphire copy and Pokemon Box on the GameCube as well. (I did not made a living dex however!)
